The culmination of the celebrations are traditional bonfires on La Glea beach (June 23), when participants jump over flames for symbolic purification and renewal. Carnival in La Zenia is a multicultural celebration integrating different nations inhabiting the region. The Carnaval Multicultural scheduled for February 15, 2025 will begin with a parade at 5:00 PM at the intersection of Nicolás de Bussi and Pintor Ribera streets. You’ll be able to admire performances by local dance groups, orchestras and platforms with fairy tale characters, which will especially delight the youngest participants.

Interestingly, despite the lack of official funding from Orihuela authorities, the community raised 7000 € for organizing this event – proof of the strong sense of community among local residents. However, if you prefer less crowded places, it’s worth considering Cala Capitán and Playa Barranco Rubio, where the rocky bottom provides excellent conditions for snorkeling and observing underwater life.

If you’re traveling with family, you’ll probably like La Caleta beach with a gentle, sandy bottom and an Aquagym zone, where water fitness classes are organized for all age groups.

Summer nights in La Zenia are as exciting as the days. The July San Juan Festival is a ten-day celebration with fireworks displays, beach dances and culinary competitions. In August, Zenia Boulevard transforms into an arena for Dance Marathon, where dancers from throughout the region compete for a prize of 2000€ – a show that attracts both participants and spectators!

3. Autumn and winter
