Trafalgar Street and surrounding area – where to park for free in Alicante?

These narrow streets offer a few free parking spaces. These spaces are difficult to find, but it is worth trying, especially if you plan to visit Parque de la Ereta or the Santa Cruz district. From here, it is only a 12-minute walk to the port, and bus number 13 provides an alternative route.

Benalua-Alipark, the best place for free parking in Alicante

The City Council has made 400 parking spaces available here on a huge site. The car park is located in the Alipark district, behind the railway station, which means it is a little further away from the sea. However, it is an excellent option for those heading to the Maissonave area or for dinner on Mushroom Street. The car park is about a 10-minute walk from Corte Inglés de Maisonnave and about 20 minutes from Paseo de la Explanada. It is an excellent, free parking option. Bus number 5, which departs from the railway station, also provides easy access to Paseo de la Explanada de España.

Car park at Plaza Mar II – free parking in Alicante

This is a good alternative for those who plan to spend time on the beach, which is only a 15-minute walk away. The car park belongs to the Plaza Mar II shopping centre, which has numerous parking spaces. However, it is worth remembering that the car park may be closed when the cinemas and restaurants in the shopping centre close, but this gives you plenty of time to explore the city.

Other temporary free parking spaces in Alicante

• Postiguet Beach: Outside of the tourist season, you can find free parking spaces along the streets near Postiguet Beach. However, during the peak tourist season, there are definitely not enough spaces.
• Auditorio de la Diputacion Alicante car park: This is a place where you can park for free, but there are parking restrictions when events or concerts are taking place. Conveniently located close to the city centre, just a 10-minute walk from the Mercado Central.
• Barrio de San Gabriel: It offers over 200 free parking spaces, but you will need to use public transport to reach the city centre as the car park is located away from the centre.
• Shopping centre car parks: If you are planning to go shopping in the city centre, consider parking at the Panoramis, Plaza Mar 2 or El Corte Inglés shopping centres. Parking is, of course, subject to a charge above a certain time limit or if you do not buy anything in the centre. Each centre has different rules. Parking rates are not high.
